Challenger – Ümelsion CD
That's how nice it is to discover a young group, with fresh ideas, with bad blood playing and intelligence when composing. We met them thanks to the Arindelle label who released their debut Dilitid, a great twisted and different punk rock album. How different this Ümelsion is from the majority of albums made by groups on the scene, due to its ability to assimilate with the same permeability the Machiavellian halo of NoMeansNo's psychotic hardcore with the rough sweetness of Jay Retard's wall of sound and the dramatic joviality by Built To Spill.
They were formed in Madrid in 2004, and at one point they were recording their debut Dilitid (Arindelle) with Santi Garcia. Some things motivated them to believe that it was worth going further with the group, such as the enthusiastic response of the public at their concerts, the good reception by the press, and the possibility, which would be achieved, of being able to work with people as mythical for any punk-rocker as Stephen Egerton (Descendents, All). So it was, and for this, their second album, they got Egerton to master the album for them in Oklahoma. Followers of Drive Like Jehu, of the Beastie Boys and of the Beatles, lovers of fun, costumes and noise, are now presented to us by BCore and Carnús Records with this fantastic Ümelsion, recorded live at the Brazil studios in Madrid and that contains the right dose of rage, musical balance and rough sound in songs as interesting as 30 days of night or Lars (Revisited).
